Overview:

In Vegas we use TelePacific and TelePacific has supplied us with a set of Public IPs that work directly off their AdTran so that users can connect to the WAN without having to worry about connectivity or setting up a DMZ network. To do this, users need to configure their devices with the IP Information from TelePacific which uses their Gateway to reach the WAN.

Some users in Vegas connect to the WiFi network. The WiFi network is directly off their AdTran and is secured with NAT, 2 Special SSIDs, WPA2 Personal Authentication, IMCP Ping Filter, Anonymous Filter and prevents basic unwanted port scanning and other malicious traffic.

IP Information:

• Internet IP address 209.58.249.154-209.58.249.158
• Subnet Mask 255.255.255.248
• Default Gateway 209.58.249.153
• Domain Name Server (DNS)     209.58.224.17 and 209.58.224.18

Initial Setup of the Wireless Router:

A Static IP address is a fixed IP address that is configured on the settings of a computer or router. Some Internet Service Providers (ISP) require you to enter a Static IP address on your computer or router’s TCP/IP settings so you can connect to the Internet.

Before you begin setting up a Static IP on your router, make sure you do the following:

i. Obtain the following information from your ISP:

• Internet IP address 209.58.249.154
• Subnet Mask 255.255.255.248
• Default Gateway 209.58.249.153
• Domain Name Server (DNS) 209.58.224.17 and 209.58.224.18

ii. Make sure that there is an active Internet connection when you connect the computer directly to the modem using an Ethernet cable. Check if you can go online using the Static IP address on your computer. If not, contact your ISP.

This part should already be done. It was completed yesterday when the TelePacific Engineer came and connected to your network.

iii. If you just switched ISPs and you are now using a Static IP connection, you need to reset your router first. To do this, press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds using a pen or a paper clip then unplug the router from the power outlet for 30 seconds and plug it back in and wait for the Power LED to be solid.

We have to do this step here. This will reset the router back to its default configuration. The Reset button will most likely be on the back located just to the left of where the power cord goes. It will also be red.

To set up Static IP on a Linksys router, you need to do four (4) things:

i. Connecting the devices together
ii. Checking the router’s LEDs
iii. Setting the computer to obtain IP address automatically
iv. Setting up a Static IP address on a Linksys router

Connecting the devices together

After verifying your Internet connectivity, connect the modem to the Internet port on the router and your computer to one (1) of the numbered Ethernet ports on the router.

NOTE: The images may vary depending on the model of your router and the type of computer and modem you are using.

Checking the router's LEDs

After connecting devices to the router, verify if they are working properly by checking the LEDs on the router's front panel. For instructions on how to do this, click here.

Setting the computer to obtain IP address automatically

Your computer should be set to obtain IP address so it can communicate with the router.

This step will allow you to connect to the router once it has been reset. This guide starts in the Network and Sharing center (Right click the Little Computer or Bars near your clock and hit Network and Sharing Center).

On the Local Area Connection Properties window, click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) then click Properties.

Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.

Now you should be able to connect to the Wireless Router. You will not be able to get to the Internet. That is next.

Setting up a Static IP address on a Linksys router

Step 1:
Access the router’s web-based setup page. Open any web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari®) and enter “192.168.1.1” on the Address bar then press [Enter].

Step 2:
You will be asked for your log-in details. Leave the User name field blank and enter “admin” on the Password field then click OK.

Your login might look a little different. That is OK. Directions still apply.

Step 3:
On the Setup page, select Static IP for the Internet Connection Type then enter the Internet IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS provided by your ISP.

Step 4:
