Question:

Can you do multiple releases against a quick mo(manufacturing order) or do you have to complete the quick mo in full at one time? For example if we do a quick mo for 1000 pcs and we finished 600 on first shift we can process the 600 against the quick mo and they go into inventory leaving 400 to be completed by second shift. When the final 400 are completed they are processed and the mo is cleared and the 400 pcs go into inventory. I was thinking that you could only do multiple releases against an mo when you enter in a regular mo not with a quick mo.

Answer:

You can create the MO you describe in Quick MO, but to do partial transactions, you must transact it in the windows that are GOTOs from the MO Entry window.

From what you describe of what you want to do, you could:

  • Create the MO in Quick MO
  • Do a MO Receipt of 600 at the end of first shift (in the Manufacturing Order Receipt Entry window)
  • Do a MO Receipt of 400, which would "Complete" the MO
  • To close the MO, you would still have to do the MO Close step

Once you have done the first MO receipt, you will not be able to process the MO in the Quick MO window - it will tell you that inventory transactions have been done against the MO and you can't use Quick MO
